Target 5: Protection of 50 per cent of the most important areas for plant diversity assured

Ensuring that the ‘best’ sites for plant diversity are protected is vital if these and broader landscapes are to be conserved. In the UK (and elsewhere in the world) work is currently underway to identify these ‘best’ sites (or ‘Important Plant Areas’) so that they can be protected and managed appropriately.
