Some
simple guidelines to help you carry out your Plant Invaders Survey
How should you record the invasive plants that you find?
Please can you record the presence of these plant invaders in gardens, local parks, along watercourses or wherever you see them between May and September. Please let us know the plant invader you have seen and fill in your contact details and the location of your sighting. Fill in a separate online form for each plant invader you see.
How do you
record a grid reference?
On the survey form we ask you to give the grid reference of
the location you have surveyed. It is extremely important that
you provide this information as without it we cannot use your
records! eg. TQ793740
If you have access to the web you can retrieve the grid reference
for your location by visiting the Ordnance Survey website and following the “Get-a-Map” link at the bottom-right
of the home page. You can either search for a location with
a place name or postcode, or zoom repeatedly into the main map
until you get down to your site.
By placing the cross-hair cursor over your site you can read
off its six-figure grid reference in the bottom-left corner
of the window. Alternatively you can phone the Plantlife helpline
01722 342756 or e-mail plantinvaders@plantlife.org.uk
for further guidance.
