New Award for plant conservation

Thanks to a generous donation from its former Chairman Roger Crofts, Plantlife is launching a new award.

The Roger Crofts Plantlife Community Conservation Award will promote best practice in plant conservation at community level and to stimulate further action.

“Local people are a vital ingredient in plant conservation" says Roger "but this is not always recognised. This award celebrates the efforts of local communities to conserve wild plants and their habitats. I hope this recognition will encourage other communities to do the same."

"I believe that people and plants are indivisible and that successful conservation depends on care for plants and their habitat. This has been the case throughout human history. It is even more important now as we depend on the diversity of plants for our very existence, giving us food and a source for medicines, as well as pleasure in experiencing their wonderful scents, shapes and colours.”

As well as promoting and rewarding best practise, Plantlife hopes this Award will encourage more communities to take action to maintain and restore plant communities in and around where they live.To find out more click the link below:
