Plantlife joins biggest ever climate change march
Plantlife showed its support for action on climate change on Saturday 5th December by joining The Wave march in London.
December 07 2009
Plantlife Chief Executive Victoria Chester and Conservation Manager Nicola Hutchinson at the Wave march.
Chief Executive Victoria Chester and other staff joined the estimated 40,000 demonstrators who marched in a wonderful ‘wave’ of blue to encircle the Houses of Parliament.
Plantlife, together with more than 100 other organisations, is a member of the Stop Climate Chaos coalition, which organised the march in London and smaller demonstrations in Glasgow and Belfast.
The march took place in a carnival atmosphere, with a huge diversity of people representing organisations including Oxfam, the RSPB, the Women’s Institute and WWF. The Stop Climate Chaos coalition was calling for practical action by the UK to prevent global warming rising beyond the 2 degrees C danger threshold.
