Annual Members' Day 2008
Friday 27th June 11am - 3.30pm
at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales near Llanarthne, Carmarthenshire
The Annual Members' Day is the highlight of the membership calendar. We hope you are able to join us this year at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, a very special place set in a historic landscape now dedicated to plant conservation and education. For more information about the Botanic Garden of Wales, please click here.
The Members' Day will take place from 11am until 3.30pm, with optional tours at 10am-11am and 3.45-4.45pm. This is an excellent occasion to meet fellow members of Plantlife, and also members of the Board of Trustees and staff.
We will start the day by meeting in the Great Glasshouse – designed by Norman Foster & Partners, it is the largest single span glasshouse in the world, considered to hold one of the best collections of plants from Mediterranean climate regions.
There will be opportunities at the beginning or end of the formal parts of the day to tour the walled gardens and the Great Glasshouse in the company of expert horticulturalists or to walk to the new National Nature Reserve next to the gardens with the estate manager – or simply to wander at your own pace through the sections of the gardens that interest you most.
The Botanic Garden’s Chief Executive, Kevin Lamb, will provide a warm welcome for Plantlife members and guests, and presentations from Plantlife staff and Board members will inform you about Plantlife’s recent work and future projects. The newly compiled Red List for Vascular Plants in Wales will also be launched on the day.
Bookings close on Thursday 19th June. To help offset the costs of providing lunch and teas and coffees during the day, we are asking for a contribution of £22 per person.
We very much look forward to welcoming you at the Members' Day. Please let us know if you would like to attend by Thursday 19th June, telephoning our office on 01722 342730 or sending one of the booking forms members will have received with your spring or summer Plantlife magazines.
We will send out your documents, directions to the National Botanic Garden of Wales and the latest programme details on Thursday 19th June. We will send out directions with the Members' Day pack, but in the meantime please click here for more information on how to travel to the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
