Yorkshire and Humberside
The region is perhaps most famous for the Yorkshire Dales and this outstanding landscape is as much appreciated by botanists as it is by tourists. The limestone cliffs and crevasses of this Important Plant Area are home to many rare alpine species not to mention a variety of wildflowers, bryophytes and algae. Away from the Dales there are also a number of key woodland habitats: Arnecliff, Parkhole and Bolton Abbey Woods are also designated as Important Plant Areas.
