As Christmas gets closer and we rack our brains to find gifts which are just right for our family and friends, this is a good time to consider those businesses which are doing something good for our native plants.

Over the last year, I spoken to many companies about our work and I’ve come across some wonderful people, many in very small businesses, who really care. They care about sustainability in how they produce products, their impact on nature and of course their customers. Sue, Chloe, Emily and Jessica who run some of the businesses I mention below have all told me how much they want to help plant conservation. They are all supporting Plantlife and are giving a donation to Plantlife whenever a product is sold. Do have a look at their websites and keep an eye out for their products when you’re shopping – and don’t miss the generous special offers.

The Bramley range is firmly rooted in the British countryside. Chloё Luxton, Bramley’s founder, was inspired by the beauty and therapeutic properties of plants and her love for nature has led to a luxurious scented collection for bath, body and home, found in over 350 hotels, pubs, restaurants and shops. In her latest product, juniper, sweet orange and bergamot essential oils are combined to create a nourishing Body Lotion and there is a donation to Plantlife for every 250 ml bottle sold. Plantlife members can have a 15% discount on all orders until by entering the code PL15 at the checkout.

Some people buy their seeds by the sack to create meadows and wildflower seeds are already available through our shop. But Seedball use an ancient technique to make germinating seed in gardens, balconies and window boxes really easy, protecting the seed from being eaten. The technique has been used around the world to grow sustainably without ploughing, pesticides or fertiliser and is now being employed here by Ana and Emily who founded Seedball after attending a training course to help scientists apply their knowledge to become entrepreneurs. Seedballs combine wildflower seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder in a protective casing. Scatter onto soil; rain and sunshine do the rest. Ana and Emily are supporting Plantlife with a donation for every sale of a Plantlife Seedball Mix, a combination of wildflowers most likely to thrive in nutrient rich soils commonly found in gardens. It’s an ideal stocking filler and a great way to start growing wildflowers – especially for those who think gardening is hard work. Visit
