Orchid Count at Cae Blaen Dyffryn
This year’s monitoring survey and orchid count was the 20th undertaken by volunteers.
Last year’s two scything courses had clearly had a beneficial effect as the number of both Greater and Lesser Butterfly Orchids was up by over 2,600 flower spikes to a total of 5,286. This is the fourth highest count since Plantlife took on the management of this Reserve. The condition monitoring shows that the reserve is generally in good shape and we will be reporting this to Natural Resources Wales as it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
A big thanks to all the volunteers who braved a rather overcast and damp day to help us.
