Wales Members and Friends Day

Join us for our second Wales Members and Friends Day. Find out what’s happening across Wales, meet Plantlife staff working on protecting and celebrating wild plants and fungi and explore the botanical treasure trove of Kenfig sand dunes.

In the morning we’ll hear from Colin Cheesman, Head of Plantlife Cymru and Marian Spain, Chief Executive of Plantlife, who will give an update on our current projects including restoring dunes in Carmarthenshire, the Great Welsh Waxcaps Hunt currently in development and work to remove invasive plants in the Brecon Beacons.

You’ll then have the opportunity to find out more about our CENNAD Lichen Apprenticeship Scheme and get up close and personal with some lichens in our microscope session.

After hearing more about sand dune ecology and Kenfig National Nature Reserve, we’ll head out into the reserve for the afternoon to discover the wild plants and fungi that make their home there. We hope the conditions may allow us to see the rare fen orchid – a species Plantlife and Bridgend County Council have been working to protect.

Lunch will be provided. There will be a choice of a longer walk or a shorter walk in the afternoon. A schedule for the day will be sent out to all attendees prior to the event along with directions to the venue.

£15 for individual members, £25 for joint or family members and £20 for non-members. To book a place please visit the shop or contact cymru@plantlife.org.uk or call 02920 376193.
