The semi-spherical fruit body has numerous flattened, crisped lobes on a short thick, rooting stem. Its colour is pale ochre to buff, but darkening with age.
Frequently occurs with coniferous trees. This parasitic mushroom has a preference for pines. It is often found on pine stumps and trunk bases. This fungus causes a brown cubical rot in infected timber.
