Hedge woundwort Stachys sylvatica

Hedge woundwort's tall spires of red flowers can often be found brightening up shaded places.

Its leaves are bristly and oval to heartshaped, with a rather peculiar smell. As its name suggests, this wildflower was used as a herbal remedy. Its bruised leaves were said to alleviate bleeding.
