Long-headed poppy Papaver dubium

A striking flower, with large rounded petals held together in a bowl shape.

Looks similar to other poppies, but has pale-red petals that are paler than others. The seed heads of poppies are a useful distinguishing feature, the long-headed poppy’s are smooth and elongated.

Distribution

Widespread in lowland areas.

Habitat

Likes arable land and the edges of fields and roads.
