Pale bristle-moss Orthotrichum pallens

A rare (in the UK) green moss.

Pale bristle-moss is small, loosely tufted epiphyte - a plant that grows on another - or some other object such as a wall - but not as a parasite.

Distribution

This moss is restricted to just nine sites, eight in Weardale, Co. Durham and one in North Yorkshire.

Habitat

The bark of trees with base-rich bark such as elm, elder and sycamore.
