Shaggy inkcap Coprinus comatus

A common fungus that usually grows on buried dead wood.

The gills beneath the cap start out white, then become pink, and finally black. It secretes a black liquid filled with spores, hence the ’ink cap’ name.

Often seen on lawns, waste areas, meadows and along gravel roads.
