It can be found at seven sites scattered across England, from the Severn Estuary to the Norfolk Broads.
Sand in shallow waters that are on chalk or limestone.
Classified as Endangered.
Its main threats are smothering by more vigorous water plants, shade from edge scrub, and falling water levels.
