These bogs, around the River Teifi and Dyfi estuary in Wales contain the most intact surviving example in the UK of a raised bog landscape.

Despite having suffered extensive damage as a consequence of past drainage and peat cutting, they still maintain a good quality of active bog vegetation, including bryophytes, sedges and vascular plants.

This area is also an Important Bird Area. It is a valuable overwintering area for several species of wildfowl as well as being home to the most southerly flock of whooper swans wintering regularly in Britain.
