Filleigh Park IPA

Location: Near Stag's Head, Devon.

Filleigh Park IPA has been recognised as one of 165 Important Plant Areas in the UK.

The key features of this IPA are:

  • The species richness of lichens in Broadleaved deciduous woodland: parkland
  • The estate around Filleigh is a fine example of parkland and wood pasture, dating back hundreds of years.

    Its trees, some centuries old and principally oak, ash beech and other long lived species, support rich populations of mosses and lichens. One species of particular note is the string of sausage lichen, Usnea articulate.
