Jacob's-ladder (Polemonium caeruleum)

Jacob's-ladder (Polemonium caeruleum)

The brilliant blue flowers and delicate ladder-shaped leaves of this wild plant are frequent in the Peak District. Growing mainly on north-facing, rocky hillsides they may mark our oldest meadows, treeless since the Ice Age.

Habitat: limestone hillsides. Flowers: June-July.
