Hop (Humulus lupulus)

Hop (Humulus lupulus)

‘Hop boughs' decorate the bar of many Kentish pubs, and the plant appears on the arms of Tonbridge at the heart of the hop-growing country.

Wild hops are unobtrusive climbers in hedgerow and thickets (they are sometimes found twirling up telegraph poles).

Habitat: cultivated land and hedges. Flowers: July-August.
