Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa)

Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa)

When the suburbs of London swept over the old county of Middlesex, some of its woods were bypassed and preserved. This harbinger of spring stands for nature on the doorstep.

Habitat: Woods and hedgebanks. Flowers: March-April.
