Suffolk

Oxlip (Primula elatior)

Oxlip (Primula elatior)

Three neighbouring counties fought for the Oxlip, the signature flower of well-established woods on the East Anglian boulder clay (where it replaces the primrose). Suffolk won. Think apricot scents drifting from a woodland carpet of creamy-yellow flowers; think Suffolk.

Habitat: woods. Flowers: April-May.
