Cowslip (Primula veris)

Cowslip (Primula veris)

In Surrey, Cowslips grow in contrasting places – dry, windy chalk downs and damp, sheltered meadows. The ‘freckled Cowslip' appears in Shakespeare's Henry V as a sign of fertile and well-managed pasture.

Habitat: pastures and meadows. Flowers: April-May.
