Purple Saxifrage (Saxifraga oppositifolia)

A flower that likes cliff-edges and rocks, and flowers early in the year, often among lying snow. In County Derry it grows amongst the volcanic rocks of the cliffs at Binevenagh.

Habitat: basalt rocks. Flowers: April-June.
