Fermanagh

Globeflower (Trollius europaeus)

Globeflower (Trollius europaeus)

Though rare in Ireland as a whole, the golden balls of Globeflower are found in a handful of locations on the lake margins of west County Fermanagh. With its ‘locked-up' chrysanthemum-like flowers and crow's-foot leaves, Globeflower is a designer's dream.

Habitat: damp meadows and watersides. Flowers: May-June.
