Angus/Forfarshire

Alpine Catchfly (Lychnis alpina)

Alpine cathchfly (Lychnis alpina)

A single, remote hill-top in Angus boasts almost the whole British population of this pretty, pink-flowered alpine (the only other tiny colony is in the Lake District). It is so special to the county, perhaps they should rename it the Angus Catchfly.

Habitat: serpentine rocks at 880 metres. Flowers: June-July.
