Early Gentian

Early Gentian is a small, but striking flower, which occurs only in isolated populations in England from Cornwall to Lincolnshire.
It is found on dunes, cliffs and particularly lime-rich or chalk grassland. Many populations of Early Gentian have been lost over recent years, often due to changes in grazing management of pasture.
The introduction of stewardship grants for landowners and the continued monitoring of this plant will hopefully see populations revived over the coming years.
