Saving wild plants in wales

Back from the Brink is Plantlife's endangered species recovery programme and works with some of the most threatened plants and fungi in the UK.

In Wales, the programme includes 42 species: 19 vascular plants, 10 fungi, 5 liverworts, 3 lichens, 6 mosses and 4 stoneworts. Of these, 34 are UK BAP species (www.ukbap.org.uk) and an additional three are identified as Species of Principal Importance for the Conservation of Biological Diversity in Wales.

A summary of the status of each of these species in Wales appears below. Species in green are UK BAP species, those marked with an asterisk are priorities for conservation in Wales (Section 74). For more information from the "Saving Species" section of the Plantlife website, click on each species' latin name.
