Plants are essential to everyone’s lives.
’Plants capture energy from the sun and all life on land, directly or indirectly, depends on them. So, ultimately, plants fuel the diversity of life on earth’
Sir David Attenborough
Plantlife seeks to conserve wild plants and fungi using a range of approaches. We work to conserve key habitats and we have designated Important Plant Areas to draw attention to those parts of the country that sustain important collections of plants. We also devise and carry out projects aimed at recovering declining populations of key species and demonstrating how they can be effectively conserved in the future.
We also promote wild plants and fungi in culture, for instance through County Flowers and the Grow Wild campaign.
