The dazzling, vanilla-scented flowers of broom brighten many moors.
It is a non-spiny shrub whose seed pods turn black when they are fully ripe.

Habitat
Heaths and sea-cliffs.
Best time to see
Flowers all year, but best in April-May.
Did you know...
When the first jetty was built beside the Clyde at the Broomielaw in 1662, the area was a grassy meadow with lots of Broom bushes, hence the name!
