New Zealand pigmyweed (Australian swamp-stonecrop)
(Crassula helmsii)
New Zealand pigmyweed © Crown Copyright 2009. GBNNSS
A non-native invasive plant.
This plant may also be mis-labelled as Tillaea recurva, Tillaea helmsii or Crassula recurva when sold. Just a tiny fragment of the plant can regrow and multiply into a dense mat of vegetation.
Distribution
It is now spreading to sites right across the UK.
Habitat
Aquatic habitats.
What's the problem?
New Zealand pigmyweed is frost resistant and once introduced to a site takes just three to five years to dominate it. It is almost impossible to remove.
