County flower of Clackmannanshire.

This pretty if clumsily-named plant forms creeping mats of tiny yellowish green flowers- 'trickles of gold'- wherever water trickles down a bank. It can also be identified by its square stem and paired leaves.

As the county flower of Clackmannanshire, it is characteristic of the shaded, wooded glens cutting into the Ochils, such as Dollar Glen.

Opposite-leaved golden saxifrage is one of the flowers we keep track of in our Wildflowers Count survey - click here to find out how you can help out.
