Flanders Moss – Stringshire’s boggy treasure – Thornhill, Stirlingshire

Have a meander around the boardwalks of Flanders Moss with Scottish Natural Heritage’s David Pickett and explore its boggy treasures: beautiful clear pools surrounded by sphagnum mosses in jewel colours, white pompoms of cotton-grass, and yellow bog asphodel. If you keep your eyes open you may spot dragonflies or even a lizard! Get a flavour too, of the fascinating history of the Moss and the ‘Moss Lairds’ who were tenants in the times after the Jacobite rebellion. A walk to suit all ages/abilities: the board walk is near the carpark and is buggy- and wheelchair-friendly. For those that wish there is also a 7 metre viewing tower by the boardwalk.
