Will You Help Save the World We Cannot See?

Step 1 of 2

Yes, I want to help fungi

How much would you like to give?

£10 could enable vital research into rare and threatened species like Oak Polypore, helping to secure their future before it’s too late

£20 could grow campaigns such as Waxcap Watch, the UK’s largest citizen science survey for fungi, helping more people to record species, uncover new populations and build the evidence needed for better protection

A Race Against Time to Save Fungi

Scientists estimate there are around 2.5 million species of fungi worldwide, but only a fraction have been identified [1]. At the current rate of discovery, it could take another 1,000 years – or 40 generations – to uncover what remains unknown [2]. The problem is that we don’t have 1,000 years!

Habitats are disappearing and climate change is already reshaping ecosystems around the world. This means fungi are being lost before we even have the chance to discover, understand or protect them. And we cannot save what we don’t know exists.

Fungi are Underfunded

Photograph shows beautiful bright blue fungi growing out of wood against a black background

Did you know that despite fungi underpinning life on Earth, funding for fungal conservation remains astonishingly low?

In fact, for every £500 spent on protecting nature, less than £1 goes towards understanding and protecting fungi! [3]

This lack of investment means critical opportunities are being missed right now. But together, we can change that.

Together, we can turn the tide and move fungi from invisible to impossible to ignore. Your gift today can help transform our understanding of fungi and make sure they finally receive the attention and protection they deserve.

Grow campaigns such as Waxcap Watch, the UK's largest citizen science survey for fungi, helping more people to record species, uncover new populations and build the evidence needed for better protection.

Give Fungi a Voice

For millions of years, fungi have quietly supported life on Earth. Today, they need champions willing to stand up for them.

By donating today, you can help protect vulnerable species, conserve the habitats they depend on and strengthen the ecosystems that support us all.

This is a pivotal moment for fungal conservation. The decisions we make now will determine what we discover, protect and pass on to future generations.

We are racing to save a kingdom we barely understand.

Please make a donation today and help bring fungi out of the shadows.
