Jane Madgwick starts as Plantlife International’s New CEO

Today (1 July 2025), Jane Madgwick starts as the new CEO of the global plants and fungi conservation charity, Plantlife.

Madgwick’s significant experience in international conservation, includes leading Wetlands International and the Global Commons Alliance, as well as regional director roles for WWF in Europe and Australia. In each case she built visibility and reputation and forged multi-sector collaborations to bring impact at scale.  Jane started her career in the UK with senior roles at Suffolk Wildlife Trust and the Broads Authority.

Commenting on her appointment as the new CEO of Plantlife, Jane Madgwick said:

“I am honoured and excited to start leading Plantlife at this pivotal moment for our natural world. Wild plants and fungi are fundamental to our wellbeing as well as being a source of joy and basis for our economies. They offer immense opportunities towards building resilient and healthy landscapes and communities worldwide. Plantlife’s approach, knowledge, experience and partnerships are vital to achieve this collective endeavour.
