Join Plantlife’s Aileen Baird, Senior Conservation Officer for Fungi, at Ludwell Valley Park in Exeter for an introduction into the world of waxcap fungi. This event has been organised as part of our work with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter. To book a spot or find out more please go here.

During the event, we’ll take a walk around the park, discussing the features of the habitat before getting hands-on with some fungi, and explore what makes a waxcap a waxcap. We will also practice recording our findings using Plantlife’s Waxcap Watch survey app.

Aileen works on fungal conservation projects across the UK. She has worked in mycology for 9 years, with particular interests in the impacts of climate change on fungi, grassland fungi, rainforest fungi, and community science. Her work covers a diverse range of projects, including the new UK Network for Fungal Conservation, the community-science project Waxcap Watch, and on-the-ground conservation of threatened fungi.

Exact meeting location will be emailed to ticket holders before the event. Accessibility information can be found on the event page.
