This is what Plantlife Cymru would like the new Senedd and Government to do.
In May 2026 there will be a new Senedd and Welsh Government. This Senedd term will run up to 2030 – a critical year. This is the deadline for Wales to meet global environmental targets such as ensuring that 30% of its land and water is managed for nature.
At this important moment for nature, Plantlife Cymru wants the new Senedd and Government to put nature at the heart of Welsh legislative programme and initiatives. To achieve this, we need to ensure the voice of wild plants and fungi is heard during the run up to the Senedd election.
We’re calling on the next Welsh Government to deliver legally binding targets for nature recovery by setting out a roadmap and providing enough funding.
The Environment Bill is expected to become law before the election. The new Government must implement it with urgency and ambition.

We are working to persuade each political party to include Plantlife Cymru’s asks in their party manifesto. We are sending our briefing to all parties and offering to discuss this in a meeting. Keep an eye out on Plantlife Cymru Facebook and X channels for further information.
